TOE-Jam Beta & Downloads
TOE-Jam 0.5.0 beta is ready to try. We especially need testers using Intel Macs and Windows PCs.
Free seven-day trial. No purchase required. Both Mac apps are Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple. The Windows beta is unsigned and may trigger security warnings or be blocked. Intel Mac and Windows hardware validation is pending.
Download TOE-Jam 0.5.0 beta
Downloads are ZIP archives. Mac ZIPs contain the notarized TOE-Jam app. The Windows ZIP contains the setup installer, instructions and an installer checksum. Download SHA-256 checksums for all three ZIPs.
Windows signing notice: This beta does not have a publicly trusted Authenticode signature. Windows may show an unknown-publisher or SmartScreen message, or block installation. Keep security protections enabled. If your computer or organization blocks the app, stop and send us the exact message. Checksums confirm that a file matches our published download; they do not replace a trusted publisher signature.
Seven-day free beta trial
The beta trial starts on first launch and lasts seven days. During the trial, you can import movies, preview timecode, and write supported files. After expiry, import and preview remain available, but new writing batches are disabled. Settings reset and reinstalling over the app do not restart the trial. This beta supports license activation. If Rosette Development supplies a beta, promotional or giveaway key, open Manage license, enter the key and activate. Each key covers two computers, Mac or Windows. Temporary keys display an expiry date. Internet access is required to activate or deactivate; activated perpetual licenses work offline. Perpetual licenses are available for US $24.99, one-time purchase, with refund requests within 14 days. Buy a license.

Choose the right download
- Mac — Apple Silicon: a separate native build for M-series Macs.
- Mac — Intel: a separate native build for Intel Macs. Hardware validation is pending.
- Windows — x64: an installer for 64-bit x86 Windows PCs. An independently installed Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime and x64 Microsoft Visual C++ runtime are required.
The Mac application requires macOS 13 or later. In About This Mac, “Chip” identifies Apple Silicon and “Processor” identifies Intel. Download the matching native Mac build. Windows requires an x64 PC; this beta is not a native Windows ARM build.
Installation and first use
Download the ZIP for your platform from this page. On Mac, double-click the ZIP, drag TOE-Jam.app to Applications, then launch it from Applications. On Windows, extract the entire ZIP and read README.txt, then run TOE-Jam_0.5.0_x64-setup.exe if your security policy permits it. Keep your operating system’s security protections enabled.
Start with copies of representative movies and keep backups. Follow the TOE-Jam Quick Start, inspect the preview, and check the written movie in your editing application before processing production footage.
Windows prerequisites
Install prerequisites independently from Microsoft if they are missing: WebView2 Evergreen Runtime and the Microsoft Visual C++ v14 Redistributable (x64). These runtimes are not bundled with TOE-Jam.
What to test
- Installation and launch on Intel Macs or Windows PCs. Include your operating system version.
- Import individual movies, multiple movies and folders, including subfolders.
- Use clips with existing timecode and clips without it. Check custom starts, creation time and modification time minus duration.
- Select one or several clips and apply positive or negative offsets. Confirm the other clips keep their settings.
- Write to new copies first. Check timecode, playback, audio and camera metadata in your editor, especially DaVinci Resolve.
- Open Manage license, activate your supplied key, and check the displayed license status. Deactivate before moving a license to another computer.
- Quit and reopen to check saved defaults. After a completed batch, drop new movies to confirm the completed queue clears.
Verify a download
Compare a ZIP’s SHA-256 with the published checksums. On Mac, use shasum -a 256 followed by the downloaded ZIP path in Terminal. On Windows, use Get-FileHash followed by the ZIP path and -Algorithm SHA256 in PowerShell. If the values differ, do not run it; report the mismatch.
Compatibility and media preservation
TOE-Jam writes embedded timecode metadata, not visible timecode over the picture. It does not decode or re-encode video or audio. Existing media, cover art, chapters, and camera metadata—including DJI djmd telemetry and dbgi diagnostic tracks—are retained.
The initial engine supports self-contained, nonfragmented MOV/MP4/M4V files with one constant-frame-rate primary video track and a simple untrimmed timeline. Fragmented files, external media references, encrypted tracks, variable sample durations, complex video edits, multiple primary videos, and discontinuous timecode are rejected. Editing applications differ in how they interpret metadata, so test your actual workflow.
Local processing and third-party software
Your movies are processed on your computer; the app does not upload them. The original Rust engine works on the movie container and retains compressed media bytes. The Mac host uses Swift and system WebKit; Windows uses Tauri with an independently installed WebView2 browser runtime. Current packages do not bundle FFmpeg, Electron, OpenH264, or a media codec implementation.
Open About → Third-party licenses & source in the app for complete dependency notices and any required source archives. Third-party licenses govern their covered components and source. The beta trial does not limit rights those licenses grant. Historical TOE-Jam installers through version 0.3.x are not approved for redistribution.
