Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Rosette Development, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use WagAtlas: Dog Parks Nearby (“WagAtlas”). WagAtlas helps you find dog-related places and pet services using your location and OpenStreetMap data.

WagAtlas does not require an account. We do not use the app to sell personal information, display targeted advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

Location information

If you grant permission, WagAtlas receives your device location while you are using the app. Depending on your iOS settings, this may be precise or approximate location. WagAtlas uses it to center the map and search for nearby dog parks, pet services, and related places.

WagAtlas does not request background location access. You may decline location permission; the app will show a Denver preview area instead. You can change location permission at any time in iOS or iPadOS Settings.

To provide nearby results, the app sends the center of the requested map area to the WagAtlas service over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The service uses that location to determine which coarse map tiles are needed. It does not store the precise request center or maintain an individual location history.

WagAtlas place-data service

WagAtlas operates a caching service at api.rosettedevelopment.com. It retrieves place information from OpenStreetMap through the Overpass service and stores shared results by coarse map tile. These cached tiles are not associated with a name, Apple Account, email address, or individual user profile. They may indicate that an area was requested, but they are shared among all WagAtlas users and are not used to create individual movement histories.

The service generates aggregate operational measurements, such as request counts, response status groups, cache-result counts, and response times. These measurements do not contain precise request locations or installation identifiers and are retained for up to 30 days.

If the WagAtlas service is unavailable or still preparing an area, the app may temporarily request place data directly from the OpenStreetMap Overpass service so it can continue providing results.

Installation identifier and abuse prevention

WagAtlas creates a random installation identifier and stores it on your device. The app sends this identifier to the WagAtlas service so the service can apply request limits, prevent abuse, and maintain availability. It is not your device serial number, advertising identifier, Apple Account identifier, email address, or name.

The server converts the installation identifier and network address into one-way keyed hashes for rate limiting. Rate-limit records expire within approximately two hours and are not used for advertising, cross-app tracking, or building a user profile.

As with most internet services, our hosting provider may process technical connection information, including IP addresses and request logs, for delivery, reliability, and security.

Map and place-data providers

WagAtlas displays map imagery and place details from OpenStreetMap and may display an Apple base map on Apple devices. Requests to these providers reveal the requested map area and technical connection information, such as an IP address, to the applicable provider.

We do not operate these third-party services. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy practices:

Information saved on your device

WagAtlas saves recently requested map areas and nearby place results locally on your device so repeat visits can load faster and limited saved results may remain available during a network failure. Saved place information is refreshed periodically and may be used as an offline fallback for a limited period.

Local records remain in app storage until they expire, are replaced, app data is cleared, or WagAtlas is deleted. This local information is not uploaded to a personal account controlled by us.

OpenStreetMap edits

If you choose to suggest a missing place, WagAtlas opens the official OpenStreetMap editor in your browser at the location you selected. Creating or submitting an edit requires an OpenStreetMap account and is an interaction between you and OpenStreetMap. WagAtlas does not receive your OpenStreetMap login credentials.

Information you send to support

If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, screenshots, and diagnostic details. We use it to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and improve WagAtlas. We retain support communications only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and our legal obligations.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The current version of WagAtlas does not include third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or a third-party analytics SDK. Operational service measurements are used only to maintain reliability, diagnose errors, and protect the service from abuse. If these practices change, we will update this policy and the app’s privacy disclosures as required.

Disclosure of information

We do not sell or rent personal information. Information may be processed by our hosting provider and the map and place-data providers described above when needed to provide app functionality, security, and reliability. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer, subject to applicable law.

Children’s privacy

WagAtlas is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account or profile. If you believe a child has sent personal information directly to us, contact us so we can address the request.

Your choices

  • Location: decline or change WagAtlas location permission in iOS or iPadOS Settings.
  • Local app data: delete WagAtlas to remove its locally stored cache and settings.
  • Support information: contact us to ask about a support message you previously sent, subject to applicable legal requirements.

Security and international processing

We use encrypted connections and reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we handle, but no network or storage system is completely secure. WagAtlas service and third-party map requests may be processed in countries other than your own under the applicable providers’ privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as WagAtlas evolves or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the effective date. Material changes will be communicated when required by law.
